Spectacular Bristol International Balloon Festival 2022

Bristol International Balloon Festival once again brought an incredible display of colours and magnificence to Bristol, and Showsec was proud to support this event, supplying site security and crowd management.

The annual Bristol International Balloon Fiesta features mass ascents from Ashton Court, where as many as 100 balloons can take off at once, with teams from the UK and other countries. The event attracted over 100,000 attendees every day. The four-day festival, which debuted in 1979, is one of the biggest in Europe.

The night-time mass ascents had to be cancelled on the first two days of this year’s event, according to the director of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. The balloons have been roped in due to extremely rare weather circumstances, according to Clive Bailey, who spoke to the spectators at Ashton Court (Saturday, August 13) before another successful morning mass ascent.

Showsec provided security throughout the festival and worked closely with the client to help create a family-friendly environment for all to enjoy.
