Women Lead the Way With Showsec At GDIF 2018

Between 21^st June and 7^th July 2018, the Royal Borough of Greenwich, London’s Docklands and their surrounding areas will be brimming with an awe-inspiring range of free performances as part of London’s leading celebration of outdoor theatre and performing arts, the Greenwich+Docklands International Festival.

Themes of this year’s programme include celebrating 100 years since some women got the right to vote in the UK, and also 70 years since the arrival of Empire Windrush, a vessel which brought 492 passengers to the UK from the Caribbean. With over 130 different performances including outdoor theatre, dance, installations and music, there is something for everybody at this one-of-a-kind event.

Showsec are particularly proud to be supporting this festival, having won the tender to supply security for the events. As a company who have diversity and inclusion at the heart of our philosophy, it is fitting that we are helping to facilitate events that celebrate equality. Furthermore, the team will be female led, with Area Manager Tracey McCarthy and Operations Supervisor Laura Alexander overseeing security for all the festival’s events.

The festival is a fresh and exciting challenge for the newly established London South and South East Coast Team, who are all really proud to be a part of GDIF 2018. Tracey McCarthy says: “It’s an amazing achievement for the South London team to be facilitating this festival. I am really excited about the event and am proud to be a female security leader for a festival that celebrates the achievements of women. Hopefully we can make improvements on what is already a really good event.”
