Showsec Support Full Capacity UK Festival For Tramlines Return

Tramlines Festival in Sheffield made history as one of two full capacity festivals taking place in England over the same weekend, only 4 days after restrictions on social contact lifted.

Showsec provided crowd management and event security services to the three-day event in Hillsborough Park. Our experienced management team with a wealth of event and security knowledge managed the provision from the Covid checkpoint and customer search at entrances to the stage pit teams looking after the crowds, the back of house team protecting production and artist areas, and response and external teams to assist the audience in directions and incidents

It was the first big festival weekend since 2019 and with permission for it to be a test event granted only 5 weeks before the gates opened, Showsec worked closely with the organisers to ensure the security and safety needs were met within a tight timescale. Showsec is well versed in Covid processes, having worked through the pandemic in diversified roles including vaccination and testing sites.

With gates opening midday on Friday the 23rd July, festival-goers were treated to long-awaited live music and entertainment across five stages with headliners The Streets, Royal Blood and Supergrass.

Part of the government Event Research Programme (ERP), the sold-out festival took place with its’ full capacity of 40,000 each day. Festivalgoers and staff had to provide proof of Covid status to enter but once on-site were not required to social distance or wear face masks. Being part of the ERP means the festival contributed to research which will help other events to go ahead safely.
