Showsec Plays Key Part of Leicester Celebrations
Showsec are delighted to have worked with Leicester City Council to provide crowd management and security to a run of high-profile public events through this autumn and into winter.
The Leicester Diwali light switch on and Diwali Day are the biggest celebrations of their kind outside South Asia, attracting up to 35,000 people on Belgrave Road for celebrations towards the end of October and beginning of November. Diwali in Leicester is a street party like no other.
Abbey Park’s bonfire and firework display pulled a crowd of 25,000 and the city celebrated the most wonderful time of the year at the Christmas light switch on which bought a similar number to Humberstone Gate. Live music and dance performances were also hosted by Matt Teale.
Showsec uses local experience, partnerships with police and stakeholders, and relationships built with local authority lynchpins including the Leicester City Council Event Team to deliver a secure and enjoyable experience for everybody involved. Helping keep attendees safe, promoting the city and maintaining the environment are all key to Showsec’s values.
“It’s so great to have a such a close connection with the council in this city,” Joe Milner, Showsec’s Area Manager for the East Midlands, says.
“Our Leicester area Operations Executive, Hiran Tank, has built a really good rapport with the individual event managers and we can give them advice and add real value to these bigger projects.
“A lot of planning goes into city events, it’s multi-agency work, and we always aim to offer a fully-flexible service at all stages in the process.”
