Showsec extends FlyDSA Arena Contract in Sheffield
Showsec have further solidified their presence at several leading entertainment venues in Sheffield, having secured a five-year extension to their contract with the FlyDSA Arena.
For the past 10 years, Showsec have provided security and stewarding staff at the venue for a huge variety of events. Tom Pickup, Showsec’s Head of Security at the venue, explained that 2017 was Showsec’s busiest year to date with the arena.
“In the last few years, we’ve had some of the highest profile events with the highest attendance since the arena opened,” he said. “This included concerts by Drake, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Green Day and Queen. In May 2017, we deployed our highest number of staff for Take That’s concerts, which were also the first standing shows performed “in the round” since Showsec took on the contract.
“Our experienced supervisors at the FlyDSA Arena do an excellent job of leading the team,” Tom added. “Their willingness and positivity has really driven the arena team, and as a result we have a very strong relationship with the client. Three years running we have also achieved amazing results in the venue’s World Class Service audit.”
Another notable aspect of Sheffield’s main arena is that Showsec provides a unique “changeover” service there. A dedicated team are responsible for transforming the venue in preparation for different events such as ice hockey games, fully-standing concerts, theatre-style seated shows, conferences and more.
The changeover team is led by Adam Dengel of the Showsec Operations Team in Sheffield, who explained: “The relationship we have with the arena is second to none. They rely on us to always deliver to a high standard and with very strict deadlines.
“Our crews work tirelessly – usually late nights and early mornings – to ensure the arena is set up for whatever event is scheduled for that evening. The whole crew are a credit to Showsec.”
The FlyDSA Arena is just one of the Sheffield Live portfolio of venues, that includes Sheffield City Hall, Scarborough Spa & Whitby Pavilions as part of the Sheffield City Trust. Showsec has built up a great relationship with Sheffield Live over the past decade, which has recently helped them secure this extension.
Kayley Grieves, Area Manager for Sheffield, added: “I’m very proud of the team we currently have working at the venue, and we’re now looking forward to the next five years and beyond.”
