Showsec and Nottingham City Council Grow Working Relationship

13 February 2020

Nottingham is a city full of culture and diversity and over the past few years, Showsec has had the honour of working at live events across the city from venues to major festivals.

Showsec’s involvement in an array of events hosted in the city included the annual Riverside Festival held over three days on the banks of the river Trent, and Goose Fair, one of Europe’s largest travelling fairs.

Splendour Festival was a huge hit in the summer with a sell-out crowd of 30,000 people seeing performances from Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, The Specials and the Manic Street Preachers amongst many others.

As part of a long-term partnership with the event, 2019 saw Showsec deploy nearly 200 security and stewarding staff to the festival at Wollaton Park, in what was largely a police free event.

Showsec also stepped in a few weeks before the Caribbean Carnival that took place at Victoria Embankment. This was the first time that Showsec had been involved and services were provided around the fenced area of the carnival village in addition to staff deployments into the parade in a customer service capacity.

Welcoming in the new decade was celebrated in the centre of Nottingham with a council run New Year street party. With numbers of 5000 people in and around the event, nearly 30 staff were deployed to ensure visitors had an enjoyable event which included a live DJ followed by a fantastic firework display in Market Square.

2019 has seen a successful partnership once again for Showsec and Nottingham City Council and Showsec is looking forward to continuing the relationship in 2020 and beyond as one of the preferred providers to the city’s venues, festivals and events.
