Richard Ashcroft – Sounds of The City at Leeds Millennium Square
You couldn’t have asked for more! A perfect day with fantastic weather, and the crowds came out in force to see the iconic singer-songwriter and two-time Ivor Novello winner Richard Ashcroft.
He began his show with a dedication to founding Happy Mondays member Paul Ryder, following his death a day earlier. He told the fans, “This one’s for Paul Ryder and Happy Mondays,” and then began to play ‘Sonnet’ from The Verve’s 1997 album ‘Urban Hymns’.
“We had nearly 70 Showsec staff on duty for this event, including Stewards, SIA, Supervisors, Head of Security and Deputy Head of Security. We secured everything from the safe entry and search of customers to queue management around the event. Great teamwork from the Showsec staff; no job was too big or too small. It’s an absolute pleasure to be a part of the Showsec team.”
