A Summer of Stadium Shows

18 July 2018

Showsec are renowned for covering both music festivals and stadium shows over the summer season. This year has seen more artists than ever embarking on UK stadium tours… and Showsec has been supporting many of these events over the past months.

One of the biggest tours was undoubtedly the Rolling Stones who were back on home soil for the UK leg of their ‘No Filter’ tour with eight shows across the country from Edinburgh to London. The tour was a unique situation for Showsec which saw nine members of the management team travel with the tour around the country, overseeing local security and crowd management operations while also working alongside the Rolling Stones own personal protection team.

As the project lead, Regional Manager for the North-East Tom Bailey explains: “This was an enormous undertaking. With each show having over 200 plus members of staff. I am really pleased that the feedback we have had from the client has been nothing short of outstanding. The level of commitment from staff on the ground and their communication to management was incredible. With this tour, one of the main challenges was working at stadiums we hadn’t worked at before but our team worked hard to understand these new venues and to deliver our high standard of crowd management service.”

At the same time, one of biggest solo tours the UK has seen was embarked upon by top selling British artist, Ed Sheeran and two of the biggest US tours, in the form of Beyoncé and Jay Z’s ‘On The Run II’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ brought their worldwide tours to our shores and Showsec provided crowd management and security services for shows at stadiums in Cardiff, Glasgow, London and Manchester. In London, there were shows being rigged, taking place and de-rigged in three separate stadiums in just one day highlighting Showsec’s capacity to provide multiple services simultaneously.

It has been a great start to the summer for Showsec with these concerts representing just a handful of the events supported across the UK with many more to follow.
