Management Development Programme

Shaping the Future: Showsec’s Management Development Programme (MDP) Has Been Transforming The Live Events Sector Since 2008

As the first programme within the live events sector to successfully provide a clear, linear, career progression plan, the MDP recognises the need to provide training and education to build the crowd and event security managers of the future. Traditionally targeted towards Showsec employees, staff members with the commitment and enthusiasm for the industry, coupled with a desire to continually learn and develop themselves, the MDP experience prepares staff to take the next step in their career.

The MDP is comprised of two curriculums. Year one recognises the need for the combination of high-level leadership and crowd safety competence. It blends a variety of learning techniques with practical experience. By providing associates with relevant operational knowledge and skills from accomplished practitioners within the industry, the course uses best working practices and works in collaboration with a recognised awarding bodies and strategic commercial partners. Providing even more opportunities – the MDP includes a second-year programme which builds on year one with a more strategic approach.

Over the past 5 years, more than 70 successful candidates have successfully completed Showsec’s MDP, moving into management roles with specialist knowledge of management techniques, skills, process, and behaviours relevant to becoming successful in the modern events industry.

Our ambition is to offer external and commercial opportunities to interested parties after summer 2025.
