Operations Supervisor – Bournemouth

You are a resilient, confident, and driven candidate who will thrive in the role of an Operations Supervisor. To succeed, you should have proven experience from a security orientated background in live events, or medium to large scale staffing deployments with a deep understanding of security strategies. You will maintain a secure work environment. Experience within a supervisory role would be extremely advantageous as this role would require you to successfully lead teams at some of the South Coast’s most prestigious venues.

You will be the initial point of contact for all operational matters. Reporting to the Area Manager, you will work with clients daily with the purpose of delivering operational excellence for every event, including the management of staff in compliance with company protocols, legislation and agreed processes. As part of our commitment to continuous development, this role requires the completion of the Management Development Programme (MDP) at the earliest opportunity to progress to the role of Operational Executive.

What you will be doing

  • Lead provision of high-quality operations at Showsec events by managing the casual workforce
  • Deliver confident inductions to new venue workers prior to shifts, as well as briefings, coaching, and debriefings for all casual workers
  • Lead security operations at events to ensure they are safe, efficient and in line with client expectations
  • Planning for and coordinating the response to any incidents for specific events
  • Controlling the security operations budget, monitoring expenses, and documenting processes
  • Utilise a strong knowledge of access control systems, CCTV equipment, and investigations
  • Develop work schedules, allocate tasks, and monitor personnel performance
  • Create client facing documentation including financial quotes for staff provision
  • Complete accurate and timely pre and post event documentation including incident reports and risk assessments
  • Support the Area Manager to manage relationships between clients and their representatives, including meeting with them on a regular basis to address operational matters including performance reviews
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Area Manager and keeping them updated
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office and the Company IT systems (incl. Smartg8 and JotForm
  • Accurately record on the booking module, including shift changes in a timely manner
  • Respond to all communications promptly, where reasonably practicable
  • Manage staffing standards in line with our values including conduct and performance, health and safety, and welfare
  • Conduct investigation meetings with casual members of staff
  • Develop your team by identifying training needs in conjunction with the Training department to prepare them for progression
  • Create a professional mentoring relationship with the casual workforce
  • Effectively manage your agreed split of operational and administrative hours and workload
  • Always conduct yourself in a professional manner, ensuring you effectively communicate at all levels whilst maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality
  • Proactively support communication between support services and the casual workforce
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested

Essential Criteria

  • Right to Work in the UK**
  • SIA License – Door Supervisor**
  • CCTV License**
  • Maths GCSE or equivalent (C or above)**
  • English GCSE or equivalent (C or above)**
  • Competent understanding of Microsoft Platforms; Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills
  • Experience of client management & operational excellence

Internal & External Desirable Criteria

  • UK Driving License
  • Close Protection License
  • L3 Certificate in Spectator Safety

  • FREC 3 or FPOS First Aid Qualification
  • Higher level education i.e. A Level, Diploma, Degree
  • IOSH Managing Safely
