Operations Manager

Showsec is looking for an experienced Security & Crowd Management practitioner to work as part of our operations management team both in the UK and Internationally. You will be a high-performing professional committed to planning, coordinating, and delivering security plans through effective management and leadership strategies, as well as contributing to creating security policies and procedures for venue and event security operations. You will be able to work as part of a team with event organisers, venue management personnel and other internal and external stakeholders to create, implement and uphold industry best practice, organisational standards and local regulations.

You would be able to relocate to different countries for agreed periods of time to undertake specific development and mobilisation projects.

What you will be doing

  • Work with clients to identify priorities for the implementation of security strategies and associated protocols
  • Deliver best practice security services, including risk assessments, security procedures, deployment plans, crowd management plans, emergency management planning, and command-and-control arrangements across a range of venues and operating environments.
  • Conduct security audits and vulnerability risk assessments across venues such as stadiums, clubs, and theatres to identify operational gaps and implement corrective actions to mitigate risk.
  • Apply corporate policies and protocols to reduce risk at events, including the use of emergency operations planning, hostile vehicle mitigation, CCTV monitoring, search technologies, and screening processes to prevent the introduction of weapons or explosives in or around venues.
  • Identify training needs for internal teams and third party contractors and collaborate with the Showsec training team to deliver existing or develop new training programmes that enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Implement mentoring and coaching initiatives to identify and develop future management talent.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Showsec clients, regional government bodies, police, and industry partners to support high performing security and venue operations.
  • Where required, ensure third party security providers are appropriately vetted, meet industry standards, and align with organisational expectations.
  • Ensure corporate security, crowd management, and emergency management activities are aligned with organisational standards.

What we need from you

  • You must hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence
  • A minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in event security, venue operations, crowd management (or similar domain).
  • L5 Crowd Management accreditation, or equivalent formal qualification (or willingness to undertake).
  • Able to clearly explain and negotiate security concepts with technical and non-technical stakeholders, building strong working relationships.
