Showsec and the Southbank Centre
Since early 2018, Showsec has been providing security services for the world-famous London’s Southbank Centre. As the UK’s largest arts centre, the venue presents art, theatre, dance, classical and contemporary music, literature and debate daily across three unique venues.
Attracting an impressive 6.25 million visitors a year, over 5,000 events take place at Southbank Centre annually. Showsec are delighted to be part of the action, working alongside those important influencers who sculpt the Southbank’s enriched programme.
From public speakers, high-profile book signings, Meltdown Festival, to the FIFA Awards, Showsec worked some of the biggest events in the 2018 calendar. Liaising with the Southbank’s event managers, Showsec are always on hand to facilitate a successful operation for every occasion.
Occupying a 17-acre site on the edge of the Thames, Showsec provide security services both internally and externally, depending on the event. Whether it’s in the 2,500+ capacity Royal Festival Hall or the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room, requiring a maximum of 2 or over 100 stewards, Showsec work alongside the Southbank Centre to deliver an exceptional and safe customer experience.
Laura Alexandra, Operations Executive for London South, says:
“Working with the Southbank Centre is a wonderful opportunity for Showsec. Being a part of their large variety of events really demonstrates the high-quality service our staff can deliver, their dedication to travel and how our training programmes prepares them for all event types.”
Paul Watson, Events Manager at Southbank Centre, adds:
“Showsec have provided superb care to Southbank Centre’s events and estates this past twelve months responding to a fiercely diverse and fast pace artistic and commercial programme with tremendous care and understanding of a complex artistic space and often competing operational needs in delivering a world-class creative programme.
“It is always a pleasure to work with the team who demonstrate a personable, collaborative and calm professionalism in engaging with both Southbank Centre staff, stake-holders and it’s public, understanding the essential balance of welcome and well-being in maintaining public and building safety.
Southbank Centre Event Management look forward to furthering the relationship across an exciting 2019 season.”
