NYE Fireworks 2025
As London ushered in the new year with its iconic fireworks display, Showsec once again played a vital role in securing the event and ensuring its smooth operation. The globally watched celebration saw an even greater emphasis on crowd management and security, building on previous successes and introducing new measures to meet the event’s growing demands.
This year, Showsec deployed 1,100 highly trained staff across viewing areas. The expanded security operation was part of a collaborative effort with several suppliers, including MJ Events, Provide, JAR, Vespasian, and Responsec, all contributing to the success of the event in both safety and enjoyment.
A major improvement was the introduction of a reinforced entry system, which clearly communicated to non-ticket holders that access to certain viewing areas would not be granted. Attendees who mistakenly approached the wrong entrances were swiftly redirected to the correct points, minimising confusion and ensuring a steady flow of people. Upgraded gates helped further secure the event, acting as a deterrent to potential intruders, while the increased number of stewards and security staff enabled better crowd monitoring and more effective problem resolution.
The presence of additional police officers throughout the event also played a key role in bolstering safety, offering reassurance to the public and providing quick responses to any issues. The collaboration between Showsec and local authorities was instrumental in managing large crowds and preventing security breaches.
Positive feedback from key stakeholders underscored the success of the operation. Hannah Clark, Project Director for Identity, praised the collaboration, noting that the Greater London Authority (GLA) was pleased with the outcome. She also thanked Showsec for their exceptional work, particularly highlighting the challenging nature of managing such a large-scale event.
“A very big thank you to you, Paul (Paul Legge, Regional Manager – Showsec) and the team for once again being so great to work with on NYE. It’s a real beast of an event, and you never know what will be thrown at us. It’s reassuring to know that we have a trusted team on the ground. The collaborative working is so important, and we value this throughout the planning and on the night,” Clark added.
The success of this year’s fireworks display further cements the New Year’s Eve event as one of London’s biggest and most anticipated public gatherings. Showsec’s role in safeguarding the safety and enjoyment of all attendees continues to raise the standard for large scale event security.
