Simon Battersby has been with Showsec for over two and a half decades and during this time, he has worked his way through the ranks to reach his current position of Co - CEO.
His considerable length of service within the company has meant that he has amassed significant experience in both crowd management and security operations. Simon has been highly influential in the delivery of numerous high-profile events both nationally and internationally, and oversees Showsec operations in the Southeast, Southwest and Midlands regions. At Head Office, Simon nurtures Marketing and Communications, Projects, Logistics and Facilities for the company.
From festivals with in excess of 80,000 attendees, sold out stadium shows and radio broadcast events, to one-off historic events like the Queen’s funeral, the King’s coronation, the Papal visit to the UK and the Tour de France 2014 in London, Simon’s operational knowledge and security skillset have figured prominently at some of the largest events in the UK.
Holding substantial knowledge of the industry, Simon also held a high-level security role at the 2012 Olympic Games which attracted 1.2 million visitors. As he constantly looks to improve standards, Simon is dedicated to helping clients create safe event environments and provide audiences with positive experiences.
An exceptional communicator, Simon recognises the importance of maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders and has worked collaboratively with Viacom and MTV for over 15 years. Simon has been a lead consultant on some of their European based productions including the Isle of MTV in Malta and the MTV Europe Music Awards since 2005. Simon is currently on the Board of the GCMA (Global Crowd Management Alliance).
